Our Mission

Tails within Texas Rescue is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, 100% volunteer based animal rescue that focuses on placing; homeless, neglected or abused dogs in Central Texas and surrounding areas.

Our goal is to save dogs of all sizes and all breeds and place them in loving homes. Tails within Texas was created especially to help fill a need in the local rescue world for shelter dogs whose time is up. We believe every dog deserves a second chance at finding a forever home.

We strive to help educate the community in being responsible pet owners and help families with their dog when they have no other options. We treat each dog we rescue as an extension of our own family. We will continue to rescue until their is no need.

Adoption Process

All adoptions REQUIRE a meet & greet, adoption application, home check and adoption fee. We strongly recommend weekend trials to insure your family is the best fit. Once the adoption is finalized (takes about 3-5 days), you will get a "Bringing your pet home" folder with the dogs vaccine history, micro chip information, current food that is being given, and any background information on the dog. Never hesitate if you have questions.  Must be 18+ years old to adopt.

Need to surrender your dog?

We understand that families have hard times and are unable to care for their dog(s). We want to help you to insure that your beloved pet goes to a great home. We do require $100 payment for an owner surrender. This helps us cover all your pets needs before they are placed in a home.

"Jessica raised our little Riley from when he was a day old. She raised him to be a lovable, people and pet friendly dog. We could tell how much passion she has for rescuing animals and the dedication she had to find Riley a good home. Our family is blessed by our new little puppy."

"Jessica Nusbaum is a wonderful and caring dog lover. We adopted an older dog from her (“General”) that she rescued from a San Antonio shelter, who turned out to be the sweetest dog we have ever had. The dog was better than she had told us. It is very apparent that she really cares deeply about dogs and has their best interests at heart. She has even visited General just to stay connected and see her dog."

We met Jessica through a post on our local Facebook page- she had two puppies up for adoption that she had rescued at 1 day old. She was candid about making sure they each went to the right family- since she had vested interest in their well being. To say we could feel her love and kindness is not an exaggeration. She bottle fed our Hazel from day 1 and gave her a great beginning. We couldn't have asked for a sweeter, smarter, more engaging puppy. I truly believe it's due to the care and love she received when she was rescued. We are truly thankful for Jessica and her work with saving dogs- she gave us a chance to share our love with a new member of our furever family.
